Facilitation Director

Location: Hybrid (with expectation for in-person programs, meetings, events, etc.)

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The YA-YA Network seeks a Facilitation Director to build YA-YA’s base, work directly with a diverse group of teens to build their skills as peer educators and to generate opportunities for them to use those skills. As Facilitation Director, you will be responsible for directly recruiting, managing, developing, and supporting YA-YA’s Facilitation Squad, made up of a diverse group of youth ages 15-19 and a facilitation associate/intern. You will also work with our team to design and run our Summer Social Justice Institute..

This is an exciting opportunity to help the organization further youth's capabilities as impactful peer educators, community leaders and organizers.

Areas of Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Lead facilitation boot camp program that trains participants in facilitation skills 

  • Lead facilitation squad for new and experienced youth facilitators to gain experience and mastery of skills 

  • Recruit and manage a youth facilitation associate / intern.

  • Manage recruitment, onboarding, development of youth who encompass a variety of backgrounds, identities, and abilities. 

  • Create short-and long-term strategies related to the growth of the program 

  • With the Youth Development Director, oversee the operation and delivery of the Summer Social Justice Institute.

    • Develop curriculum for our Summer Social Justice Institute

    • Recruit and manage youth facilitators to assist with running Summer Social Justice Institute

    • Co-facilitate the Summer Institute

  • Participate in weekly meetings with YA-YA Network staff team and one-on-one supervision.

Curriculum Development 

  • Develop engaging, popular education based curriculum and trainings to be used both within the organization and externally with schools and ally organizations

Partnership Management 

  • Developing and maintaining ongoing relationshipswith schools and other organizations for the purposes of both recruiting participants and providing opportunities for our young facilitators to use their skills

Program Evaluation

  •  Develop realistic, ambitious, and tangible goals for program outcomes and personal growth of participants

  • Partner on developing impact evaluation mechanisms for measuring programmatic effectiveness

  • Create pre and post surveys and other ongoing evaluation tools

Professional Development 

  • You will maintain a working knowledge of issues related to YA-YA’s mission, programs, and campaigns.

Experience Required

  • 2 years of experience as a facilitator and curriculum developer 

  • Knowledgeable in the use of popular education theory and practice

  • 2 years of experience working with a diverse group of teens

  • Knowledgeable about a broad range of social justice issues

  • Experienced in recruitment and retention strategies with youth participantsExperienced in assessment/evaluation of both program effectiveness and the progress of individual participants

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

The base salary is $57,330. Benefits include 32 days paid time off for 12 paid sick days, 20 paid holidays, and 10 paid vacation days for Years 0-2 of employment that increases over tenure. $6,000 health expense reimbursement. $1,584 personal travel stipend per year. Access to a professional development fund.
