Workshops for Youth
Youth leaders who graduate from our Facilitation Bootcamp facilitate these workshops in schools and youth programs across New York, as well as create their own workshops on issues they're passionate about.
The Village (1.5 - 2 hours)
A workshop designed to give participants’ an experience of non-violent action, to build shared experiences through a group challenge, and to practice organizing tactics.
School-to-Prison-Pipeline (1.5 - 2 hours)
Youth will be able to identify schools and prisons as institutions. Youth will understand the players and institutions contributing to the school-to-prison pipeline and how they benefit. Youth will also be exposed to the facts and statistics on how much New York spends on prisons rather than schools and the link between school policies, school push-out and youth incarceration.
Organizing 101 (1.5 hours)
Got some folks together who are planning an action or campaign? Our Organizing 101 workshop introduces the role of organizing in social justice movement to people new to this approach. We also explore the different types of organizing and what are the different parts of a campaign.
Students' Rights to Organize (1.5 hours)
Have some issues that you want to change in your school? Learn what your rights are when organizing in your school community and how to get other students and allies involved.
